Calla has really taken a liking to her brother lately. Now that she can roll over on her side she loves to look at Carter and touch him. Usually on his face or shoulder. Occasionally I have to help him when she grabs an ear and doesnt want to let go. He will sometimes look at her like she is crazy and sometimes crack a smile, but mostly just ignores her and lets her play.

A New Friend

The other day we had a park play date with Hayden Meesey, his mommy Jenny, and our friend Holly. Hayden and Calla really hit it off. Carter was a little uninterested so he decided it would be his nap time. Hayden held Calla's hand and she smiled at him all afternoon. We all had a great time!

Calla Four Months Old

Calla is also growing up so fast. She can hold her head up. Loves to sit supported and would do it all day if we could. She loves to fly as you can see (does get a little air sick but doesn't seem to mind). She loves to talk although her form of talked is a high pitched squeal but cute just the same! She loves her brother very much! She just today decided that she also loved her blu dog. Blu put her head on the bouncy seat and Calla just squealed and was petting her nose. Calla can roll over on her side and does it often wont be long before she rolls over all the way! And of course she just keeps getting cuter!

Carter Four Months Old

The past few weeks have really flown by. Carter can hold his own head up and sit up with some assistance. He smiles all the time and loves to talk.
Carter is wearing his "we hate Texas" bib that was so graciously provided by grandmommy and grandaddy, it's a great bowling family tradition to hate the longhorns and Calla and Carter will surely follow in those footsteps!
Also above is Carter Bug in his very own crib! He moved to his own crib on April 10th and loves it! He just looked around for the longest time and he sleeps so well. (so hopefully his favorite color won't be pink when he grows up after all!)

Bath Time Fun!

April 7Th, 2009. They are 14 weeks old now and they love their baths. They kick their legs and Calla smacks her arms in the water. Carter does love to pee in the tub, he just smiles away. :-) Calla now follows moving objects with her eyes/head. She had noticed the dogs and watches them some. Carter is holding his head up almost on his own. We went to the Dr today to get their last RSV immunization and Cater weighed 13lb 8oz and Calla weighed 10lb 6oz. I can not believe how much they have grown and how fast time is flying by. Our babies are amazing and we just thank God for them, and their health!

Our Little Razorbacks

April 1, 2009. Our Little Razorbacks. Calla and Carter in their very first Razorback attire. I know they look enthused, they were holding in the excitement so that we could take the picture. :-) Of course they will be Texas A&M fans as secondary.

Twelve Weeks Old

This week was very exciting. The babies met a majority of the extended family on mommy's side. Shelley and mom went along too. When we first got to town we went to see my grandmother (mom's mom), their great - grandmother, meme. She lives in a nursing home in Walnut Ridge. There we took a picture of four generations, it was neat and she really enjoyed our visit. I think the babies got to meet the entire nursing home staff and some of the residents. We also got to see Aunt Alyce, Uncle Tom, Cousin Kim and her daughter Cousin Katelyn. Katelyn had a broken arm but still did great holding the babies and they loved her. We took a trip to nearby Paragould to visit Marie, a long time family friend, and Aunt Peggy. Aunt Peggy has lots of practice with babies, she has two grand kids of her own. Then it was off to see granddad (my fathers dad). That is who we stayed with. Of course he enjoyed the babies and they enjoyed him. We also got to see Aunt Carmeta, Aunt Elvena, Uncle Cowan, Cousin Holly, and granddad's good friend Esther. Esther was even sweet enough to cook us dinner one night. For our first trip overnight all things went very well. It is amazing how much stuff the babies really need to take on a trip, it really filled up the car! It was great to see everyone and I am so glad we got to share the babies with you!

Ten Weeks Old

The babies are really growing! They are smiling more and more. On the 14Th we had visitors, the Bowling grandparents and Uncle Rusty and Meredith. That Saturday was Rusty's birthday so we went out to eat. The babies dressed up in the outfits that grandmommy Bowling picked out for them. Calla was wearing her very first dress. She is not happy in the picture but was really cute! And of course Carter was handsome in his hat with ears! Uncle Rusty and our friend Eric helped Jamey put up crown moulding in our living room, neither had done it before so it was interesting to say the least but is looking good so far. There are pictures of the babies in a seat with blue and red cover. This seat has been passed down in the Bowling family and has all of the kids names and birthdays on it starting in 1968. How cool is that? In all we had a wonderful visit and the babies loved their extended family very much! Calla just realized that she can look at herself in the mirror on the seat behind her car seat so she just stares in wonder, too cute! They got a new toy, the floor mat. I put them both in there and turned on the music and you would think I gave them the world. They loved it. They aren't really able to swat at the toys yet but they just looked at everything and kicked their legs and squealed, it was great! We also took a short trip to see our friends Holly and Katy at Holly's house. I could not believe all of the stuff I had to take over there just for a few hours. Next time we get together it might have to be at our house. :-) Life with these little ones is an adventure that we love. We are blessed in so many ways!

Nine Weeks Old

Wow, an entire week without picture taking! The first week in March the babies were nine weeks old. They had their two month check up and shots. All I have to say was could someone have not warned us?? It was awful! They looked at us as if to say "why are you doing this to me?". I cried and was still crying on the way home. The babies cried at a whole new level and it was so sad! The next few days were challenging also, due to fever and soreness from all of those shots! Poor babies! At the Dr Carter weighed 10lb 5oz, 20.75 in long and Calla 8lb 7oz, 21.75 inches long. Calla is starting to babble a lot which is too cute and a smile here and there. Carter not so much, but we know he will catch up to her soon. On March 5Th Carter smiled really big at me ( a first) and them promptly puked on me. I think it was to soften the blow. They graduated from the net in the tub this week also since they are a little more steady with the heads. They LOVE their bath now that they are sitting in the water. Calla tried to drink the water and we got smiles from both of them.
This week was a challenge for me. Jamey was very sick and it was as if I was a single parent. We stuck him in the bedroom so that no one else got sick. Good news is that it worked and he got better also. I am released to go back to work this week also, yippee. I never thought I would ever want to be a stay at home mom, until I was a mom, and now I would love nothing more. However due to our current situation it is required that I work some, so I went back to working PRN. My first night at work I hated it! All I did was think about these sweet babies at home, it was so hard to focus. Also this week we had a visit from Uncle Bo, Aunt Amanda, Tommy, Joey, and one on the way. It was really fun. Calla and Carter loved their cousins. We had not seem them in years so it was very nice of them to stop by on their way through.

Seven weeks old

This week Calla started holding her head up on her own for short periods of time. Carter got his first illness, a bad rash that started on his face and moved down his body. It was so sad! The Dr said it was most likely a food allergy and to switch him to soy (not it, real cause still unknown). He weighed 9lb 3 oz at the Dr. They are both on medicine for reflux which is helping slowly but surely. They now take their baths in their own little tub which has a little net thingy that they lay on. They like it better than the sink but still not their favorite thing to do.

Saturday, April 4, 2009

We had some more visitors on Valentine's Day. Our friends Stormy, Emma, and Parker Reed, along with Jenny Meesey came to see us. We had a great visit and it was really good to see Emma and Parker, it had been a long time. The babies are now six weeks old and doing very well. Carter weighs 7lb 15oz and Calla weighs 7lb 8oz. They both have reflux and are on medication for it which helps. It is a challenge at this point to get Calla to eat but she is gaining wt so we are happy about that. On Monday of this week Calla had an ultrasound of her head due to an increase in the size of her soft spot and all was OK, thank GOD! Then on Tuesday she had a swallow study. She had a swallow delay due to her prematurity and reflux but no aspiration, again Thank God! She should grow out of the swallow delay and as long as she keeps gaining wt we are in good shape. The babies are really taking on personalities of their own and a little like ours in some aspects. They are amazing beautiful little critters and we are so blessed to have them in our lives to love forever!

Valentines Day 2009

Carter and Calla wanted to tell all of their friends and family that they love them very much on their first Valentines Day!

Five weeks old

The Babies are five weeks old this week and it felt like two months had passed. They really look like newborns now, not so tiny anymore. I joined the local chapter of Mothers of Multiples which is a club for women like me. I love it and it is so much fun to listen to others stories and be able to ask questions. I think they will be a great resource for me. Aunt Shelley, Uncle Aaron, and Cousins Cade and Austin came to visit this week and we all had a great time. Also Bryan and Jenny Meesey came to visit. They are expecting their second child this fall and we cant wait to meet her (that is what we ordered, a girl). :-)
